Viking longship torched in Up Helly Aa celebrations

Shetland's Up Helly Aa fire festival has reached its finale with the burning of a replica Viking longship in Lerwick harbour.

Around 1,000 men paraded through the streets of the town, as part of the Jarl Squad.

Head Viking Mark Evans explained the thinking behind the procession. He said: "We burn away the winter and the bad weather with fire."
