Fast-flowing river endangers Hawick

Two severe flood warnings are in force for Hawick and Jedburgh in the Scottish Borders after rivers in both towns burst their banks.

Rising water levels caused 600 people to be evacuated from low-lying parts of Hawick including primary school children.

A severe flood warning also applies to Jedburgh and heavy rainfall has caused widespread problems in southern Scotland.
