Search and rescue pilot tells of laser pen incident

The chief pilot of the Highlands' main search and rescue helicopter has backed calls for tougher controls on laser pen ownership after he was targeted during an emergency mission.

Cpt John MacIntyre says the incident, during a recent search over the River Ness, could have had catastrophic consequences.

His comments come as a British airliner bound for New York turned back to London on Sunday night after a laser was shone into the cockpit.

BBC Scotland's Jackie O'Brien reports.
