Queen's wardrobe exhibition opens to the public

The Queen's birthday has been marked with the opening of an exhibition of her clothing at the Palace of Holyroodhouse.

''Ninety years of style from the Queen's wardrobe, external'' charts her life and reign through the outfits worn from childhood to the present day.

Curator Caroline deGuitaut says the clothing was often designed with a symbolic or diplomatic purpose as well as reflecting British design: "Everything that you see here has been worn at least twice but only when it is appropriate for the Queen to do so".
