Nice attack: Clement Sordet 'thinking of those who died'

A French golfer has paid tribute to the "sad situation" in his hometown of Nice.

Clement Sordet, who is competing in The Open, said he awoke at 04:00 for an early tee when he learned of the previous night's events.

He said: "I give my thoughts to all of the families and to the people who died".

French authorities have said 84 people were killed in what they believe is an act of terrorism.

The French flag has been flying at half mast on the Scottish Parliament, the Scottish government's St Andrew's House and at the Royal Troon course where the golf tournament is being held.
