Heavy downpours expected across Scotland

The Met Office has issued yellow "be aware" warnings for heavy rain in Scotland as thunderstorms are forecast to spread across the country.

Lightning, thunder, hail and strong gusts of wind could lead to difficult travelling conditions.

The weather warnings are in place, for most of the country, until 21:00 on Wednesday.

For the Highlands and Northern Isles, the warning is in place until Thursday at 09:00.
