Professor David Bell: 'Scotland is unequal in income terms'

Professor David Bell of Stirling University talks at length about income inequality and how the gap between the richest and poorest has fluctuated over the years.

He said that some countries, like the US, have done very well in terms of wealth despite being one of the world's most unequal societies.

Prof Bell added that inequality could not be fixed "in the short term". He set out the pros and cons of changing the tax system to reduce inequality.

The academic also proposed that improving the education of poor children would have an impact on inequality.
