Rhos Male Voice Choir sing French anthem for Grand Slam

Wrexham's Rhos Male Voice Choir will be leading the singing of the French national anthem at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium on Saturday ahead of Wales' Grand Slam clash.

About 40 members of the choir representing Rhosllanerchrugog have been rehearsing for weeks for their big moment in front of a 75,000-strong stadium choir as well as a big TV audience tuning in for the six nations match with France.

Choir secretary Geraint Phillips said: "It's a great honour to be asked to sing at any Wales match in the Millennium Stadium, and now that the match will be Wales's Grand Slam decider, it makes it even more exciting.

"We don't want to give too much encouragement to the French with a rousing rendition of their anthem, but we will treat it as a professional engagement and do our best."

The choir - winners of the 2011 National Eisteddfod - have spent the last few weeks rehearsing La Marseillaise.
