Pregnancy joy for Kathryn Sheppard after miscarriages

Women who suffer a miscarriage or other complications early in pregnancy need access to advice and specialist services every day of the week, according to a health watchdog.

The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence says the NHS should consider setting up dedicated services for pregnant women who experience pain or bleeding before 13 weeks.

Kathryn Sheppard from Porth, Rhondda, who is pregnant after having had several miscarriages, told Felicity Evans of her experiences as Good Morning Wales sports reporter Steve James, whose wife has also had miscarriages, describes the experiences as "emotionally traumatic".

He said he and his wife had decided to talk openly to offer support to other couples as doctors say miscarriages happen often to women before they go on to carry a child to full term.
