Wales snow: 'Rare' red warning issued by Met Office

The Met Office has issued a rare red warning, its most severe, for parts of south and mid Wales as heavy snowfalls are forecast in the early hours of Friday.

Around 30 schools, mainly in Powys and Rhondda Cynon Taf, say they will be shut on Friday, and some mountain roads will close on Thursday night.

Across Wales local authorities say they are prepared, with grit levels remaining high.
