Hywel Dda health shake-up referred by watchdog

Controversial changes to the NHS in mid and west Wales have been referred to the Welsh government by the area's patient watchdog.

BBC Wales understands that the Hywel Dda Community Health Council has backed local campaigners in their opposition to a range of closures.

The health minister will now have to decide if the changes go ahead.

Darren Miller, Conservative health spokesman in the assembly, said the community health council's decision was "right". But the health board said it was disappointed.

Nick Palit reports.
