Dementia sufferers in care too early, says Alzheimer's Society

More than one in 10 people currently living with dementia in Wales will go in to care homes too early due to a lack of support and awareness of where to go for help, according to new figures from the Alzheimer's Society.

Psychologist Jan Wood from Caerwys, Flintshire, lost her father to Alzheimer's last year and now her mother has been diagnosed with dementia.

Here, she talks to Sarah Easedale about their experiences and how the care her mother now receives at home could have benefitted her father who went into residential care.

The society is calling on people living with dementia to seek support early in order to stay living at home and their community for longer.
