The Ford motor company is to invest £24m at its Bridgend factory, securing jobs with the production of a new greener engine.

Work is due to start next year on a new 1.5-litre EcoBoost petrol engine at the factory which employs 2,300.

Industry experts welcomed the news saying it would boost financial security for the Bridgend area by securing jobs.

Ford praised the Welsh government for pledging £12m towards the project during Monday's official announcement.
