Type 2 diabetes on rise due to 'lazy porkers', says Prof Craig Currie
The number of people under 40 with type 2 diabetes has risen sharply as the UK becomes a "nation of lazy porkers", according to an expert.
Cardiff University found the incidence trebled in the general population between 1991 and 2010, but rose higher among under-40s who now account for 12% of all newly diagnosed cases, up from 5%.
"Essentially we are a nation of lazy porkers," research leader Prof Craig Currie told Rachel Burden on BBC Radio Five live.
