Cardiff walk in memory of Lee Rigby

Around 30 people walked through Cardiff on Saturday to remember Drummer Lee Rigby who was killed in Woolwich in London.

Adults and children walked from Maindy Barracks in the city to the National War Memorial in Cathays Park where they laid wreaths and flowers in his memory.

Organiser Simon Jones said he and his friends had wanted to show their gratitude for the work of the armed forces. A collection was also held for the Help The Heroes charity.

The walk came as Drummer Rigby's family appealed for calm and for people to "show their respect in a peaceful manner."

He died on 22 May near Woolwich barracks. One man has been charged with his murder, another is being questioned in police custody.

Mr Jones explained to Rhodri Lewis why they wanted to honour service people, both living and dead.
