Cardiff University lands 'star' stem cell researcher

A world-leading neurobiologist is taking up a post at Cardiff University as part of £50m project to attract world-class scientists to Wales.

Yves Barde from the University of Basel in Switzerland has been appointed as part of the Welsh government's Ser Cymru science initiative.

Prof Barde will further his research into the use of embryonic stem cells.

Prof Colin Riordan, the vice-chancellor of Cardiff University, told Oliver Hides on BBC Radio Wales about the importance of the appointment.
