Barry Town United: Anger over FAW membership refusal

There has been an angry reaction to a decision by the Football Association of Wales (FAW) to force Barry Town United to play recreational football next season.

Three Plaid Cymru MPs have signed a House of Commons motion criticising the decision to deny the club FAW membership.

Now the local MP, Alun Cairns, has written to the FAW asking it to hold an extraordinary general meeting to look at the decision making process.

Barry Town Supporters' Club, which has been running the football club for the last two years, said they would fight the decision and were determined to remain in the top level in Wales.

Stephen Fairclough reports.
