St Asaph floods caused "emotional damage"

The mayor of St Asaph said the damage caused by the Denbighshire city's floods has been emotional as well as financial.

John Roberts said it has been a traumatic experience to come to terms with for those affected since the river Elwy burst its banks and swamped hundreds of homes last November.

He told BBC Radio Wales' Rob Thomas that the emergency services responded well to the flooding and were on-site in advance providing support to householders.

Mr Roberts was speaking after Wales' Public Accounts Committee published a report saying the way the nation responds to big civil emergencies such as flooding needs to improve.
