Carmel Napier says she was 'bullied' into leaving Gwent Police
The former chief constable of Gwent Police has told a group of MPs the force's police and crime commissioner (PCC) threatened to "humiliate" and dismiss her unless she resigned.
Carmel Napier told the Home Affairs Select Committee that PCC Ian Johnston had never raised any concerns about her behaviour prior to a meeting on 23 May.
During that meeting, she said, he presented a document - the tone of which she found "menacing and bullying"- which led to her resignation on 7 June.
Mr Johnston and Mrs Napier were called to give evidence to the committee after he admitted telling her to quit her job or face being forced out.
Mrs Napier gave evidence after Mr Johnston.
