Race tracks record "astonishingly poor"

A financial expert has said past performances of race tracks has been "astonishingly poor", as plans for a £280m circuit near Ebbw Vale have been approved.

Developers say about 1,500 direct and indirect jobs, and 500 construction jobs would be created by the project near Rassau Industrial estate.

Blaenau Gwent councillors gave the Circuit of Wales unanimous approval on Wednesday.

But financial expert Justin Urquhart Stewart said the track record of such schemes was "astonishingly poor".
