Original Commonwealth Games baton found in museum archives

Curators at St Fagans National History Museum have found the first Commonwealth baton stored away in their archives.

It came to light after staff were approached to dig out the silver gilt original which was was used for the 1958 games.

At the time it was used for a relay from Buckingham Palace to Cardiff Arms Park.

Dr Emma Lile, a curator at the museum, describes the baton.
