Food hygiene law prompts workload fears of union

A new law forcing cafes and restaurants in Wales to display their food hygiene ratings needs more resources to meet its deadlines, a union has warned.

Around 23,000 food outlets will have to show "scores on the doors" in prominent places from November.

Unison fears environmental health inspectors will struggle to keep up with demand for re-inspections from those businesses rated poorly.

The union says other areas of environmental health work will suffer as a result.

Dominic MacAskill, head of local government for Unison in Wales, explained the union's concerns to Felicity Evans on BBC Radio Wales.
