April Jones: School and search and rescue teams set to benefit from fund
A fund set up in memory of murdered five-year-old April Jones could benefit her former school and search and rescue teams who helped hunt for her in the days following her disappearance.
Keith Davies, one of the trustees of April's Fund, said more than £76,000 had been collected so far. The closing date for applications for money from the fund is the end of the month and the fund itself is expected to close in a few weeks.
As well as April's primary school in Machynlleth, Powys, the money may also go towards a children's play area in the town. Mr Davies said the trustees would discuss with April's parents how exactly it would be spent.
The fund was formed just days after April disappeared while playing near her home on 1 October, 2012.
Donations from around the UK and the world, including the United States and Mexico, have been received, Mr Davies said.
April's funeral will be held in Machynlleth on Thursday.
Mr Davies spoke to BBC Wales reporter Craig Duggan.
