Wales' stroke death rates among the worst in Europe

Stroke death rates in Wales are among the worst in Europe, and prevention and treatment could be significantly improved, a new report says.

It comes as Health Minister Mark Drakeford opens a new £11m rehabilitation centre at Llandough Hospital, near Cardiff.

But Conservatives said until issues in the NHS were addressed, stroke patients may not receive treatment in time.

Claire O'Shea, from Stroke Association Wales, said despite previous reports there has been little improvement in stroke care and there was a lack of resource.
