Gillian Clarke poem marks Nelson Mandela's death

At a memorial held in Nelson Mandela's honour in a Soweto football stadium on Monday, President Obama urged the world to carry on his legacy by fighting inequality, poverty and discrimination.

Mr Mandela has proved to be an inspiration in art as well.

In his lifetime there were countless books, paintings, films and even an opera that attempted to tell the Mandela story.

Following his death, there has been an immediate response, in the form of poetry.

The National Poet for Wales, Gillian Clarke, has written a poem marking the death of Nelson Mandela, and gave Good Evening Wales a first reading of the new work.
