Aberystwyth storm aftermath of 1938 recorded by British Pathe

The devastation caused by the hurricane-force winds that hit Aberystwyth seafront in 1938 was recorded by British Pathe in the aftermath of the storm.

Local historian William Troughton told BBC Wales in 2009 there had been talk of a tidal wave, external striking the coast in the build up to 14 January 1938, later reinforced by the account of a Royal Navy tanker being disabled by a large wave.
