Welsh language 'faces emergency' says Cymdeithas campaigner

The chairman of a campaign group said the Welsh language "faces emergency".

Robin Farrar, from Cymdeithas yr Iaith Gymraeg, told BBC Radio Wales people want to live their lives through the medium of Welsh but have problems accessing those services.

It comes as Europe's leading human rights organisation said there is "considerable concern" about the declining use of Welsh in public services.

The Council of Europe has put forward a series of recommendations to the UK government concerning regional and minority languages.

The Welsh government said it was committed to promoting the Welsh language and "to ensuring that people are able to use it in all aspects of their daily lives".

Mr Farrar spoke to Mai Davies.
