Council mergers in Wales should happen soon, says Jones

A long-awaited report into the future of public services has recommended that the number of councils in Wales should be roughly halved.

The Williams Commission says a series of mergers should be carried out to create between 10 and 12 local authorities.

It says urgent action is needed and the changes should happen at pace.

First Minister Carwyn Jones told Wales Today presenter Jamie Owen the changes should happen "sooner rather than later".
