Nearly 100 subsidised bus routes cut in Wales from 2011-14
More co-ordination is needed between transport providers if subsidised bus routes are to continue in Wales, it has been claimed.
Stuart Cole, professor of transport at the University of South Wales, said health boards, social services and private companies could work together to continue services instead of running duplicate ones.
Schemes such as Carmarthenshire's Bwcabus door-to-door service, on which users book their journeys in advance, could also be extended to other areas, he said.
BBC Wales found nearly 100 subsidised bus routes across 19 council areas had been scrapped by councils in Wales in the past three years, with further cuts expected as authorities make savings.
The Welsh government said it was reviewing ways of funding services.
