Ann Clwyd wants some Welsh hospitals in special measures

Some hospitals in Wales should be put in special measures, Cynon Valley MP Ann Clwyd has said.

She said the same six hospitals had repeatedly high mortality rates and should be monitored.

Her comments come as surgeons in Wales say they are still looking for answers over what is being done about heart patients dying while waiting for operations.

The Royal College of Surgeons wrote to Health Inspectorate Wales in July last year warning patient safety was being put at risk.

HIW says it will respond in due course.

Ms Clwyd spoke to Mai Davies of BBC Radio Wales.
