Clegg joins row over valleys rail electrification bill

Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg has accused First Minister Carwyn Jones of trying to reinvent history about the funding of rail electrification for the south Wales valleys.

Mr Jones had previously accused the UK government of going against a pledge to pay for the upgrade of the valleys network as well as the upgrade of the Great Western mainline from London to Swansea.

UK government ministers said an agreement was made two years ago for the Welsh government to cover the cost.

In an interview for the Sunday Politics Wales programme, Mr Clegg said Mr Jones was wrong, adding: "I'm afraid he is simply trying to reinvent history."
