1898 Blaenau Ffestiniog eisteddfod crown found on eBay

A crown awarded to a poet at a Welsh cultural festival in Blaenau Ffestiniog 116 years ago is being returned to the town after being spotted for sale on auction website eBay.

Dr Melinda Price, originally from Blaenau, bought the "tiara" for £250 after realising its significance.

A bardic chair, also a feature of the 1898 National Eisteddfod ceremony, is still used in the town council chamber and both were reunited for the first time since that ceremony on Thursday.
