New York was 'city of towers' to Dylan Thomas

Thousands of miles from the sleepy west Wales town of Laugharne, poet Dylan Thomas found it difficult to adapt to life in New York in the early 1950s.

In letters to his family he described it as the "city of towers" and told how he found it difficult to sleep through the relentless noise of traffic.

New Yorkers recite the poet's thoughts on the city, where he eventually died.
