Child arrests down 59% in five years across Welsh forces
Child arrest figures have more than halved across Wales in the past five years due to successful local policing initiatives, the Howard League for Penal Reform has said.
In 2008 police across Wales' four forces made a total of 18,805 arrests, compared with 7,759 in 2013.
The Howard League has campaigned for a reduction in the number of children being arrested and wants the age of criminal responsibility raised from 10 to 14.
Chief executive Frances Crook told BBC Radio Wales the drop was good news.
