D-Day: Gliding in to landing beaches

Glen Jones from Burry Port, Carmarthenshire, served in the Royal Army Service Corps, in 706 Company during World War II.

On D-Day, he was not in one of the many ships that crossed the English Channel but instead flew over on a glider and had to land in the middle of the night.

Once on the ground, his co-pilot was shot within a short space of time by friendly fire from Allied paratroopers.
