D-Day: Storm altered landing plan

Reg Pye from Burry Port sailed from Tilbury in Essex on his journey to the D-Day landings in 1944.

A storm meant his ship had to divert from their planned landing at Gold Beach to Sword Beach in Normandy because of high water.

Mr Pye, who served with 224 Field Company, Royal Engineers, acted as a driver carrying sappers, mines and ammunitions.
