Veteran David Edwards honoured by Normandy school

A World War Two veteran from Abergavenny has had a school named after him in France for the work he and and his late friend did to teach school children about the war.

David Edwards, 89, is back in Normandy this week for the 70th anniversary of the D-Day landings.

Paul Heaney travelled with Mr Edwards back to the town near Caen he helped to liberate all those years ago where he spoke to Jean-Louis Le Goffe, whose family he befriended, and Caroline de Pechy, head teacher of L'Ecole Edwards Griffiths, the school named in the veterans' honour.
