D-Day veteran Ted Owens was injured on Normandy beach
Former Royal Marine Commando Ted Owens of Pembroke Dock was left "absolutely paralysed" when he was wounded during the first wave of advances on Normandy's beaches.
Shrapnel from an exploded shell injured his shoulder, back and chest and he lay motionless for so long his colleagues thought he was dead.
Here, he recalls the moment he landed on the beach under heavy gun fire.
Mr Owens, who went on to fight in Belgium after recovering from injuries, returned to Normandy for the D-Day commemorations.
