Sully Island climber rescued after being cut off by tide
A man has been rescued from Sully Island, Vale of Glamorgan, just two days before the RNLI introduces a traffic light system to advise walkers when it is safe to cross.
The man told Penarth RNLI inshore lifeboat crew he had been climbing on the south of the island when he had been cut off by the rising tide.
The RNLI crew returned him to the shore and into the care of Penarth coastguard.
The charity is hoping its pioneering traffic light system will cut the number of similar call-outs and reduce the risk to people's lives.
