Deepcut father Des James 'disgust' over families' treatment

The father of Cheryl James, a soldier who died at Deepcut barracks in Surrey, says the way his and three other families have been treated is "disgusting".

The High Court has ordered a fresh inquest on the 18-year-old from Denbighshire, who died in November 1995, after a challenge by her family.

Ms James was one of four soldiers who died at the barracks between 1995 and 2002, sparking allegations of bullying and abuse.

Des James. of Llanymynech, Powys, says he is far more cynical now about the processes involved in looking at his daughter's death.

Liberty solicitor Emma Norton, who represented Mr and Mrs James, said their "persistence and dignity" had borne fruit in the face of the authorities' "sheer refusal" to cooperate with them.
