Glasgow 2014: Wales boxer Ashley Brace forced to miss out

A boxer has spoken of her devastation at not being able to compete for Team Wales in the Commonwealth Games.

Ashley Brace, 23, from Rassau, Ebbw Vale, was only told two weeks ago by the Welsh Amateur Boxing Association that she was not eligible because she had broken the rules by allegedly fighting as a professional kick-boxer.

She fought as a kick boxer for nine years but denies she has ever fought professionally - only as part of keeping fit and toughening up - and claims the association did not make proper checks.

But the association says it does not have the resources to make sure fighters comply with new rules.
