World War One rugby roll of honour: Dick Thomas
There were 13 Welsh rugby internationals who lost their lives in World War One. But who were they?
Dick Thomas was born in 1883 in Ferndale, Rhondda. As well playing for his village side, he also went on to captain Mountain Ash.
As a company sergeant major with the 16th Battalion Welsh Regiment he was killed in action in Mametz Wood in the Somme on 7 July 1916, aged 35.
Rugby historian Gwyn Prescott talks about his career and war service.
