President Barack Obama welcomed at Newport school
US President Barack Obama has visited a Newport primary school at the start of his two-day trip to Wales for the Nato summit.
Mr Obama, accompanied by Prime Minister David Cameron, sat down with pupils at Mount Pleasant Primary School, Rogerstone, ahead of the meeting of 150 heads of state and ministers at the Celtic Manor.
A welcome to Wales and to Newport was read to him before he was shown work by the class.
Pupils, who had been learning about Nato, answered questions from their teacher.
A cavalcade of more than 20 cars arrived just after 09:35 BST on Thursday and the president - the first to visit Wales while in office - spent 30 minutes there before leaving again by car for the Celtic Manor and the tougher business of the day.
