Scotland referendum: Simon Brooks says UK survival almost a 'fluke'

The United Kingdom surviving the Scottish referendum was almost a fluke, a cultural commentator has said.

Dr Simon Brooks, former editor of the Welsh language current affairs magazine Barn, said the with the vote so close it was time to sit down in Wales to discuss the constitutional future.

In Scotland, voters chose to stay in the UK and decisively rejected independence.

With the results in from all 32 council areas, the "No" side polled 2,001,926, votes to 1,617,989 for "Yes".
