Care homes residents in Wales 'malnourished', says watchdog

Some care home residents are malnourished because a lack of thought is given to the food they are given, Wales' older people's commissioner has said.

Sarah Rochira told BBC Wales the situation was "unacceptable" after a review of 100 care homes.

In one case, she said an elderly man was left living off just mashed potato.

An increased focus was needed to provide nutritionally balanced meals and choice for vulnerable people, she said.

Paul Heaney reports.
