Cardiff and Bristol could regional 'critical mass'

Bristol mayor George Ferguson thinks there is a "huge amount of common interest" for Bristol and Cardiff to work together more closely.

Speaking to BBC Wales, he said that by working together the two cities would have a "critical mass" that the UK government would listen to.

His comments follow claims by a think-tank that Wales would lose out if Cardiff does not become part of a bigger economic region to bid for UK government investment.

Mr Ferguson said common areas the two cities could work on together included transport and energy resources.
