Dylan Thomas' notebook sold for £104k Sotheby's auction

A notebook which shows the early work of Dylan Thomas - including scribbling in the margins - has been sold for £104,500.

The book, described as the most exciting manuscript discovery since the poet's death in 1953, was bought by Swansea University.

Thomas appears to have left it at the house of his mother-in-law, Yvonne Macnamara, during the 1930s. She told a member of her household to burn it but it was kept.

Prof John Goodby from Swansea University told BBC Radio Wales' Kayley Thomas the notebook shows the process of how he worked on poems before they were published.
