John Hartson says 'fittest' could still get cancer

Being the "fittest man in the world" will not necessarily stop you getting cancer, former Wales footballer John Hartson has said.

The 39-year-old from Swansea was diagnosed with advanced testicular cancer, which had spread to his brain and lungs, six years ago.

Former Celtic star Hartson under went chemotherapy and is clear of the disease.

"It doesn't matter if you're the fittest man in the world, it doesn't stop you being diagnosed with cancer," he said.

But he said his level of fitness helped in his recovery.
