John Hartson inspires listener's cancer treatment

Cancer Research UK suggests that 2,000 cases of testicular cancer are diagnosed every year in the UK.

The charity adds that more than 95% of cases are successfully treated and the key is to get checked out early.

Former Arsenal and Celtic striker John Hartson, who is now assistant manager to the Welsh FA, found out the hard way after waiting four years to visit the GP.

Ben Pilling, 28, from London, checked himself out after listening to a podcasted version of John Hartson's interview with 5 live in 2011, and was diagnosed with testicular cancer.

BBC Radio 5 live's Richard Bacon united them in the studio.
