'Wealth of information' found in digitised miner records

A "wealth of information" has been rediscovered after funding was awarded to digitise records belonging to the South Wales Miners' Federation.

The records will be conserved and digitised by the Richard Burton Archives at Swansea University after it was granted £18,456 in funding.

Covering the years 1899-1934, the documents contain details of World War One, the 1926 General Strike and the economic depression of the 1930s.

Swansea University archivist Elisabeth Bennett said they had found a number of "little gems" in the records.
